What is a storage subscription?

A storage subscription allows users to upgrade or even consume their storage based on a recurring charge, instead of rebuying storage over and over. It can take the form of a subscription to software and hardware upgrades for storage that is purchased in the traditional way. It can also feel more like the public cloud, where storage usage is charged periodically and no assets are purchased. It can even combine elements of the two, where the user retains ownership but pays only for the storage used.
